SAN ENRIQUE, ILOILO — August 8, 2025. Mayor Niño P. Fernandez warmly received officials from the Department of Agriculture (DA) Region VI during a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening agricultural development in the municipality. The meeting was also attended by Municipal Agriculture Office Head Mr. Renante Gabayeron, Bantayan Farmers Association President Mrs. Nelrose Miro, and former Barangay Captain Roger Miro.
Central to the discussion was the Modified Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion (Modified INSPIRE) Program, with a focus on the 30-Sow Level Production Farm Project valued at ₱10 million. This initiative is seen as a vital step toward reviving and fortifying San Enrique’s swine industry, which plays a crucial role in the town’s local economy.
Mayor Fernandez expressed his full support for the project, emphasizing the municipality’s commitment to programs that uplift local farmers and enhance food security.
“With the backing of our partners in agriculture, we are laying the groundwork for a stronger and more sustainable future for our farming community,” he said.
The Modified INSPIRE Program aims to provide long-term solutions to challenges faced by the hog industry, boost local pork production, and contribute to the country’s food sufficiency goals. By working closely with farmer associations and agricultural agencies, the municipality hopes to generate livelihood opportunities, improve farm productivity, and strengthen resilience against future crises.
As the project moves forward, San Enrique reaffirms its dedication to agricultural progress, ensuring that the benefits of such programs reach the grassroots level—where they matter most.
