San Enrique, Iloilo – July 13, 2025 — Sundays may be for rest and family, but for Vice Governor Lee Ann F. Debuque, it was a day of heartfelt connection and celebration with her extended family — the people of San Enrique.
Vice Governor Debuque joined the festive commemoration of San Enrique’s 68th Foundation Anniversary and 8th Kalamay Festival, held on Sunday, July 13, 2025. The Municipal Gymnasium came alive with the spirit of unity, joy, and cultural pride, as families gathered to witness five impressive performances that showcased the town’s rich heritage and enduring traditions.
“Daku guid ang akon kalipay nga nakaupod sa akon ginakabig nga mga kapamilya—ang kadistrito naton nga mga San Enriquenhons,” said the Vice Governor, emphasizing her deep appreciation for the community and the warm welcome extended to her.
She extended her congratulations to Mayor Nonoy Niño Fernandez, Vice Mayor Trexie Fernandez, the Sangguniang Bayan Members, LGU employees (especially festival lead Dr. Patubo), barangay officials, and all who contributed to the success of the celebration.
The Kalamay Festival, now on its 8th year, continues to grow as a symbol of San Enrique’s identity — celebrating its sugar-producing legacy while promoting cultural preservation and local pride.
Vice Governor Debuque’s presence underscored the unwavering support of the Iloilo Provincial Government to local festivities that uplift communities and reinforce a shared sense of belonging among Ilonggos.
“Padayon kita sa pagpasanyog sang aton kultura kag pagbinuligay bilang isa ka pinalangga nga distrito,” she concluded.
